HBC’s Dance Camp for Youths (July 7 to July 11, 9:00-11:30), features studies in ballet for the beginning student, ages 3 to 10. This summer’s theme is Island Fantasies. The workshop will focus on classical ballet technique for the youngster, while applying imagination, characterization, and performance studies to basic technique. Transporting each dancer to a magical realm where he or she can sway like an island breeze, dance to the beat of an island drum, set sail on a magical sea, and command the oceans like an island Neptune, all in his or her voyager Hawaiian canoe . Using music familiar to your child, he or she will be inspired to leap and turn in their island reef, and dance and spin with the tides and seas. The dancers will experience how to use their ballet technique to express and communicate a story through the imaginative creation of their fantasy island. The week ends with an invitation to family and friends to enjoy the presentation of their work.
